Located in the middle of the province of Noord-Holland dune reservation, this is the ideal destination for a short break, with wonderful cycling trips, hours of walking, or simply relaxing on the beach. Bergen Artists’ Village is also a must for the more culturally-minded cyclist. Visit one of the many galleries, or be persuaded to buy something gorgeous in one of the many exclusive boutiques. Art markets take place here regularly, and there are also open days, during which you can see the artists at work.

We have mapped out a number of routes that start from the Blooming hotel, and naturally these include round trips through the Schoorlse dunes. Cycle through ribbons of pine forests, along moorlands and dunes, over several kilometres of cycle paths, and you will see how the overgrowth in this area contributed to the generation of sustainable energy. The southern section of the dunes is also worth visiting. Check out the Noord-Holland Dune Reservation at Castricum via the Heidevlak (moorland) and Egmond aan Zee. The programme also includes a trip to Alkmaar. Would you like a truly sporty challenge? Go on a mountain bike trip. And if you would like a day off the bike: The picturesque Bergen Binnen, the old City of Alkmaar and its cheese market are within easy reach.

You stay in the Blooming hotel at the edge of the dune village of Bergen, set in 11 hectares of its own very special dune area. The hotel’s location, in the immediate vicinity of wide open natural scenery, provides a sense of rest and freedom. The hotel supports (local) artists and has a very good kitchen.
