Tour of Two Canadas
From Montréal to Kingston. 7 days . ship name Latitude Amsterdam (Comfort DeLuxe)
Bike Barge canada Montreal

This tour will start in the French-Canadian city of Montreal and finish in the Anglosaxon of Kingston (photo).

Level of Difficulty: Easy, flat route. Presents little or no difficulty.
Note: The itinerary, Kingston to Montreal, benefits from the westerly predominant winds.

In the late 18th Century, British parliament structured its recently conquered North American colony into two distinct Provinces, Lower and Upper Canada. Lower Canada would retain the essence of what had been Nouvelle-France east of the Ottawa River, whereas Upper Canada would respond to the desires of the recently arrived Loyalist settlers for British institutions and laws. Although Lower and Upper Canada would be re-united under a single political structure only half a Century later, the two regions retained much of their distinct heritage and identities.  Experience the contrast of these two amazing spaces united by the majestic St-Lawrence River. Feel Quebec’s French-Canadian joie de vivre and be impressed by Kingston’s soaring 19th Century limestone architecture. Discover the charms of Canada’s mightiest river from Montreal’s rapids to the footstep of the Great Lakes. Bike on amazing cycling networks: Quebec’s Route Verte and Ontario’s Waterfront Trail. This tour includes a cruise through the magnificent Thousand Islands aboard your floating inn, the Latitude Amsterdam
At the end of each day of discovery on two wheels, the sensory experience continues, as gastronomy and comfort take over to complete the seduction.  This comfortable, cajoling trip is a simple way to slow down for a few days and live the Canadian flavour of European culture at the doorstep of America.
