Bike & Barge Holidays in the Netherlands
Our Bicycles
There is a good bicycle available for all participants from ages eight and up with 24 gears and handbrakes. All bikes are comfortable touring bikes made by Gazelle, Holland's leading bicycle brand, or bicycles of comparable quality. Pannier bags are a part of standard equipment on each bicycle.
Bicycles for children
Your children are more than welcome on our Bike & Barge Holidays!
On request, we provide child seats and, for children between 4 and 8 (who like to cycle but might get tired before arrival on board), tag-along 'slipstreamers' are available. This one-wheeled bicycle is attached to the bicycle of the adult. The child pedals whereas the adult helps a little by 'pulling' the bicycle forward. A tandem bike can also be rented (€ 50,- per week) if requested far enough in advance. Also, on request, bike trailers are available.
Bicycle helmet
Although wearing a bicycle helmet is not required in the Netherlands, we highly recommend doing so. Children are required to wear the helmets that are provided with the children's bicycles/seats/slipstreamers. Helmets for adults are not included with the trip package.
Bicycle insurance
Only available on our Bike & Barge tours in the Netherlands.
