This classic tour is the perfect way to get to know the most beautiful corners around Germany‘s largest lake in a relaxed way by bike.

Mostly flat and never far from the shore, you cycle from highlight to highlight on the well-developed Lake Constance cycle path. Whether the Council City of Constance, medieval Stein am Rhein, the Höri peninsula, maritime Überlingen, the Zeppelin city of Friedrichshafen or Arbon Castle – cycling tour beginners, pleasure cyclists and families experience an exciting and varied cycling holiday on this tour!

Daily Program

  • Day 1 Arrival in Constance / Kreuzlingen

    Take the opportunity to visit the island of Mainau, wander through Constance’s old town or visit the aquariums in the Sea Life Center and go to the Archaeological Museum.

  • Day 2 Constance – Gailingen / Stein am Rhein / Wangen, 30 or 40 km

    First, you cycle along the southern Swiss shore of the Untersee and pass many villages, presenting themselves typical to this region. Finally you reach the little, pittoresque town of Stein am Rhein with its many frescoed houses. Depending on where you are staying the night, you might cross the border again for Gailingen or Hemmenhofen.

  • Day 3 Stein am Rhein – Überlingen, 40 or 60 km

    Today you circle the romantic peninsula Höri. The famous painter Otto Dix and the well-known author Hermann Hesse used to call this place their home. In the old imperial town on Radolfzell you take a little break before you cross the Bodanrück. A short steep incline is on your way to Überlingen, the only one all around Lake Constance.

  • Day 4 Überlingen – Kressbronn / Lindau, 60 km

    From Überlingen you cycle through vineyards to Friedrichshafen. On the way you will pass the Baroque pilgrimage church of Birnau. In Meersburg, take a break to wander around the old town and its castle. In Friedrichshafen we can recommend a visit to the Zeppelin museum. You continue on through extensive orchards to today's destination of Kressbronn or Lindau.

  • Day 5 Lindau – Arbon, 50 km

    On your way today, you soon reach Bregenz, the capital of the Vorarlberg region of Austria and famous for its annual festival on the largest lake-stage in the world.
    You finally reach Höchst where you soon cross the border again and then, after pedaling onwards for a few kilometres, reach Horn or Arbon.

  • Day 6 Arbon – Constance, 35 km

    The last day of your tour takes you through Romanshorn which is home to Switzerland's largest harbour on Lake Constance. Now you continue on along the banks of Lake Constance back to Constance. Let your tour come to a pleasant end with a wander through the old town or an ice cream down at the harbour.

  • Day 7 Constance

    After breakfast, you start your individual return journey home or extend your stay.

There is a direct train connection between Zürich and Constance. From the train station, you can take a Bus, Taxi or walk to your hotel.

    Centrally located in the Old Town, hotel Halm is situated in a grand, historical building, some rooms have air conditioning. A rich buffet breakfast and delicious cuisine is served in the elegant Maurisches Saal restaurant, featuring chandeliers and high-ceilings. The Bibliothek bar serves exotic cocktails and features its own library.

  • Gailingen, cat A

    Hotel Rheingold is located in Gailingen. Each room here will provide you with a seating area. Featuring a shower, private bathroom also comes with a bath or shower and a hairdryer. Extras include a desk and a safety deposit box. At the hotel you will find a terrace

  • Hemmenhofen, cat K

    Hotel Hoeri am Bodensee offers individually furnished rooms with breakfast included. It overlooks the Zellersee lake at Lake Constance. It features a pool, a sauna area, a steam bath and a relaxation room. A rich breakfast buffet is provided each morning, and a rich 3-course dinner can be enjoyed in the restaurant.

  • Überlingen, cat A

    Situated in a quiet location on the edge of Überlingen, this hotel offers a luxurious spa, a panoramic sauna, an indoor swimming pool and a view of Lake Constance. The Parkhotel St. Leonhard provides  spacious rooms. Choose from a range of fish, game and poultry dishes in the restaurant. Round off the day in the Weinstube.

  • Überlingen, cat K

    Located directly on the shores this 4-star hotel in the historic area of Überlingen offers fantastic views from it sun terrace and a large garden. Each of the rooms at Bad Hotel Überlingen offers a TV and wooden floors. Some of the rooms also boast a flat-screen TV, a minibar and a hairdryer in the private bathroom. The restaurant serves regional dishes and offers a buffet breakfast.

  • Lindau, cat A

    Set on the island of Lindau, this 4-star hotel is a short walk from the harbour. It features a sunny terrace. In Lindauer Hof has every room a private bathroom with toiletries and a hairdryer. You can enjoy breakfast in the restaurant, which features regional fish dishes and local wines. The bar serves a variety of drinks and cocktails.

  • Lindau, cat K

    The Hotel Bayerischer Hof offers large rooms, an outdoor swimming pool and wonderful views of the lake. There is a bathrobe and slippers in every room. You can enjoy a drink at the elegant bar or on the lake terrace. The spa includes saunas, a steam room and caldarium. 

  • Arbon, cat A

    Hotel Römerhof occupies a historic building in the centre of Arbon, a 5-minute walk from the banks of Lake Constance. All rooms come with a flat-screen TV, wooden floors and a private bathroom. Fine French cuisine is served in the elegant restaurant featuring an inviting summer terrace. The restaurant also has a big wine cellar.

  • Horn, cat K

    This maritime-style 4-star hotel in Horn dates from 1827. It includes a 1,500 m² spa area with an indoor pool, 2 restaurants and 2 bars. The Bad Horn Hotel’s bright rooms feature an elegant maritime ambience and include mahogany and brass furnishings. Most overlook the lake.
