You can choose between bike and barge tours along the Rhine from Amsterdam to Koblenz, Aschaffenburg to/from Bamberg or along the Main, Rhine and Mosel. If you prefer cycling through the vineyards you can chose the tours along the Moselle and Saar? Staying on the cozy barge Zwaan and cycling midweek along the Maare-Mosel cycle path to discover the Eifel. Some will prefer to travel to the the south of Germany. They will enjoy cycling along the Danube, but they still have to choose between guided and self-guided and staying in hotels or on a ship. All choices will have the same outcome: a great cycling holiday!
This thoroughly enjoyable cycle tour begins in Daun, in the heart of the UNESCO Volcanic Eifel nature park and geopark - very near the famous maars. The route runs between Daun and Bernkastel-Kues along a disused railway track, with almost no ascents, and with all the attractions along the way is ideal for cyclists looking for a leisurely tour. The tour winds downhill to the vineyards of the Moselle river, over viaducts and bridges, through tunnels and forests in the Eifel, past the maars and extinct volcanoes.
Join our tours along the Moselle and Saar and find out yourself!
The German waterways as the Moselle, Saar, Rhine, Main and Danube make the country ideal for bike and barge holidays.
If you would like to book a cycling holiday, but you cannot escape your fascination of water, then we have something very special in store for you: bike and boat holidays! There’s a reason these trips are so popular: the very special atmosphere on board enchants even the landlubbers among you. The ship acts as a comfortable hotel, that swims alongside you, and as an exquisite restaurant. Re-pack your suitcase? This is not necessary on these cycling trips.
You can join our tour along the Moselle and Saar or vice versa; Aschaffenburg to/from Bamberg or along the Main, Rhine and Mosel on our barge the Zwaan. The Zwaan only has 7 cabins. The cozy atmosphere and small group (max. 14 persons) makes this one of our highest valued tours.
If you ever want to cycle along the Danube, then you can hop on board the MS Swiss Crown on the cycle route Passau – Vienna – Passau or check in on the MS Vivienne or MS Swiss Crown and discover the route Passau – Budapest – Passau. These ships are larger river cruise ships for more than 100 people. The guided cycle groups are approx. 22 people.
The most famous bike route in Europe is the Danube cycle path. From the river's source in Germany down to the Black Sea it is about 1,800 miles. On it's way, the Danube crosses half of Europe. As a cyclist, you are most probably interested in the Danube's course through Germany, Austria, Slovakia and Hungary.
One of the highlights on the Danube cycle path is the stage from Passau to Vienna. If you want to visit 3 capitals in a week we recommend the stage from Vienna (Austria) through the Slovakian capital Bratislava and to end in Budapest (Hungary).
Cycletours Holidays offers three hotel and bike tours. Two tours along the Danube cycling path and one along the Lake Constance.
Our cycling holiday Lake Constance is one of the best bike tours to book for inexperienced cyclists, because it is mainly flat cycling on a bike path. You will cycle in 3 countries during the cycle tour: Germany, Austria and Switzerland. Along the Danube cycling path you can cycle in 14 days from Passau to Budapest or choose to cycle in 8 days from Passau to Vienna.
In your trip package of these self-guided tours are all our servcices included: bicycle or e-bike rental, route descriptions, luggage transport and service hotline. For you overnight stay on the Lake Constance tour you can choose from 2 different hotel categories.
